Pristine is one of the best modern cultivars and perhaps *the* best early-season fresh-eating apple. It’s also stunning; it’s pale yellow-green skin glows like a neon sign or some sort of fortune-telling orb. It was developed in Indiana in 1994 by PRI (a breeding program managed by Purdue University, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and the University of Illinois). It tastes as lemony and sparkling clean as it looks.
